Domestic Sprinkler Systems by Amsco

Who is it for?

Domestic Sprinkler systems are suitable for any property where there is a need for a comprehensive fire suppression system. We typically fit sprinkler systems into high rise blocks of flats, domestic homes, loft conversions, hotels, restaurants, offices and industrial units.

What are the benefits?

Sprinklers provide peace of mind, like having a dedicated fire fighter in every room of your house. They can be fitted as part of an initial build of a property or retro fitted to an existing property often in less than a day.

How does it work?

The typical domestic sprinkler system head consists of a plug held in place by a trigger mechanism. The most common type of trigger is a glass ampule filled with glycerine-based liquid that expands when heated. This liquid is designed to expand and break the tube at a certain temperature. The most common are designed to break at 68°C - 75°C. In the average sized room a 5mm diameter ampule will usually break in about one to one and a half minutes from contact with a heat source. Ampules as thin as 1mm are manufactured for a faster response time. The plug is forced out by the pressurized water behind it and deflected away by a bevelled edge. The water spays over the deflector plate which is designed to distribute it in an even pattern. Water will continue to flow until the main valve is shut off. The immediate cooling of the heat source usually prevents other sprinkler systems from activating. Often, one or two sprinkler heads are enough to control a fire.

Which sprinkler system should I use?

The HL2 system is the ideal self-contained system if water supply is not available, whereas the BBK system is ideal if there is no storage space and there is access to a water supply. Both domestic sprinkler systems can be installed in less than a day and both can easily be removed and installed elsewhere. The HL2 is a fully self-contained Mist System that needs no electrical or mains water supply.

Fire sprinkler systems explained

Fire sprinklers provide state of the art protection against the threat of fire. They detect a fire at it earliest stages. When the temperature sensitive glass bulb breaks a plug is released that holds back the water and the fire will start to be extinguished immediately thus reducing damage to the property and reducing the danger to residents.
